Montgomery County PA SAVIN Coverage
Pennsylvania calls its victim information and notification program PA SAVIN. It is delivered through VINELink, the VINE mobile app, and the automated telephone line at 1-866-972-7284. Custody checking is free and may be anonymous. Participating county facilities and Pennsylvania corrections agencies send events to the service, but each agency controls its source data and the length of time a record remains available. That means coverage should be checked for the specific person and custodian, not assumed from the mere presence of a Pennsylvania portal.
For someone held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility, choose a result tied to the participating local agency. For a person in SCI Phoenix or another state prison, compare the result with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections record. VINELink is not the federal Bureau of Prisons locator, and it does not turn a county event into a state-prison record. The correct channel depends on who held the person when the event occurred.
Search a Montgomery County Inmate
Begin with the official VINELink state selection rather than a broad web result. Have the full legal name ready and, when lawfully known, an offender number or another identity detail. Similar names are common. A name match alone does not establish that the result belongs to the Montgomery County person being checked.
- Open VINELink and select Pennsylvania from the state choices.
- Choose the offender search and enter the person’s name or offender number.
- Compare the participating agency, identifier, and available identity details on every possible match.
- Open the custody detail and read the full status or event label.
- Note whether the event says release, transfer, escape, death, or another change. Do not convert one label into another.
The official VINELink entry screen below shows where a Pennsylvania VINE Inmate Check begins.
After Pennsylvania is selected, the agency and identifier become as important as the name because a person can have records in more than one custody system.
Montgomery County VINE Result Fields
The live interface can vary by participating agency, so only fields actually shown on the opened record should be quoted. PA SAVIN supports a person or offender-identifier search, a custody detail, and registration linked to that record. It does not promise one universal set of fields for all Montgomery County and PADOC results.
| Field or item | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Name and offender identifier | Helps distinguish the intended person from someone with a similar name. |
| Participating agency | Identifies the county or state source that reported the custody information. |
| Custody status | States the current status supplied to VINE, subject to update timing and source limits. |
| Custody-change event | May distinguish release, transfer, escape, or another reported change. |
| Notification choices | Shows which phone, text, email, or app alert options are offered for that record. |
VINELink does not create MCCF’s admission and discharge data. It relays what the participating source reports. A result that says released can support a timely check, while an MCCF admission/discharge record remains the stronger source for recorded exit date, time, and disposition. If the result instead says transfer, the person left one setting but remained in custody.
Note: Quote the exact live status and agency because VINELink fields can differ among Pennsylvania correctional sources.
Set Montgomery County Release Alerts
Registration attaches a notification destination to one selected person. It is not the same as searching all Montgomery County releases. Open the correct record first, then select the alert channels offered by the interface. The Pennsylvania materials describe phone, text, email, and app notifications, and they allow more than one phone number or email address to be registered.
- Confirm the person and participating agency on the custody detail.
- Select registration or notifications for that exact record.
- Choose phone, text, email, or app and enter the destination requested.
- Complete any confirmation shown by the chosen channel.
- For telephone calls, create a four-digit PIN and keep it available.
- Update the registration when a phone number or email address changes.
The four-digit phone PIN acknowledges the custody-change call. Pennsylvania’s brochure says unanswered calls continue for 24 to 48 hours or until the PIN is entered. If the PIN is lost, call 1-866-972-7284, press 0, and ask the around-the-clock operator to reset or cancel it. The PIN does not unlock a jail record or change the person’s status.
Separate Pennsylvania Registry Alerts
Pennsylvania State Police also offers electronic notifications tied to the Megan’s Law registry. This is a separate channel with a different legal scope. The registry covers only people required to register, while PA SAVIN tracks custody events reported by participating correctional agencies. Presence in the registry does not show that a person is still confined, and absence does not prove release.
The Pennsylvania State Police subscription page below illustrates the separate registry-notification route.
Use that service only for its stated registry purpose. A Montgomery County VINE release alert should still be registered through the matching VINELink custody record.
Read Montgomery County Release Events
A release alert is contemporaneous evidence that a source agency reported a release or custody change. Save the message and its timestamp. Then read the event exactly. “Release,” “transfer,” and “escape” describe very different circumstances. A state-prison move to parole also differs from final discharge because the Commonwealth may continue to supervise the person in the community.
For an MCCF event, call Montgomery County Correctional Facility at 610-635-7100 and ask whether the record reflects discharge, transfer, or continued custody. The facility is at 60 Eagleville Road, Eagleville, PA 19403. A court docket can show bail, sentence, or a release-authorizing order, but it may not establish the actual time the person cleared discharge or whether another hold applied.
For SCI Phoenix or another state institution, use the PADOC Inmate/Parolee Locator. Its inmate side covers current DOC jurisdiction, while its Department Supervised Individual side covers current state supervision and can show a field labeled Release Date, county of residence, and district office. That Release Date documents a move into supervision, not necessarily the end of the maximum sentence.
The confirmation records answer different questions. A saved PA SAVIN alert shows what the participating agency reported at a point in time. An MCCF admission/discharge or movement record supplies the county jail’s recorded exit, disposition, and, when available, receiving agency. The UJS docket supplies the legal context through bail entries, disposition, sentence, and filed court orders. For state custody, PADOC’s locator and official inmate record describe the Commonwealth’s jurisdiction or supervision. Agreement among those sources gives a much firmer result than any one status screen.
Check all known cases and identifiers. Bail in one Montgomery County matter may coexist with a detainer or sentence in another. A court order can authorize release while discharge staff still complete processing, and a transfer can follow the order instead of a community exit. If a source conflicts with the VINE event, use the originating agency’s current record and ask it to explain only the fields it maintains. Do not change an exact event label to fit an expected outcome.
Note: A Pennsylvania VINE release notice can precede final confirmation that every hold and transfer question has been resolved.
No Montgomery County VINE Result
A no-result cannot establish that a person was released. The name may be entered differently, the agency may not supply the expected event, a record may have aged out, or the person may be held by another custodian. A fully discharged PADOC person may also disappear from a locator designed for current jurisdiction and current supervision.
Use a source-based fallback. For an MCCF stay, check the Montgomery County docket through the UJS Portal and call MCCF. Then review the county’s open-records instructions and file a focused request through the JustFOIA portal for records sufficient to show admission, discharge, or transfer. Name the person, provide a narrow date range, and ask for electronic copies of existing records. The agency generally responds within five business days, though Pennsylvania law permits a stated extension for retrieval, review, or redaction.
For state custody, search both PADOC populations and contact state inmate records if the public locator no longer covers the person. Ask for the official inmate or sentence-status record rather than a newly created explanation. The broader Montgomery County released inmate search explains those durable records without treating a live roster as a history archive. In an older case, the correctional record and filed court order often remain more useful than a VINE result that has aged out.
- Release
- A reported end to custody at the named agency, which may still be followed by supervision or another hold.
- Transfer
- Movement from one custodian to another, not freedom in the community.
- Parole
- Conditional community release while a sentence and state supervision continue.
- Discharge
- The end of the legal or correctional stage identified by the source record.
Montgomery County VINE Check Limits
VINELink data can lag behind the source agency, and its available record can change. A saved alert is useful, but it does not rule out a detainer, which is a hold placed by another authority. Nor does it prove the person reached the community. Confirm the reported event with the facility or PADOC and use the court docket to understand the legal action behind it.
Federal release can lead to another correctional agency, immigration custody, or supervised release. Likewise, leaving MCCF under a federal or immigration pickup is a transfer. No VINE result should be stretched beyond the agency and event it names. When documentary proof is needed, request the originating correctional record rather than relying on a screenshot or alert alone.
