Montgomery County Release Records
Montgomery County released inmates do not share one universal release certificate. The best proof is a chain of records. An admission, discharge, or movement record from the Montgomery County Correctional Facility establishes when someone left that jail and how staff coded the exit. A criminal docket supplies the legal event, such as bail, a sentence, or a discharge order. A state supervision result may show that a person moved from a Pennsylvania prison to parole. PA SAVIN may record a custody change reported by a participating agency.
Those events must be read with care. A community release ends confinement under that custodian. A transfer only moves custody. Furlough and work release allow limited time outside while legal custody continues. Parole is conditional release before the maximum term ends, while probation is a court sentence that may follow jail or may begin without confinement. When a name disappears from a current jail list, the absence alone proves none of these outcomes.
- Discharge
- The end of a stated custody or supervision stage.
- Time served
- Credit or completion that satisfies the custodial part of a sentence.
- Detainer
- A hold lodged by another case or agency that can block community release.
- Transfer
- Departure from one facility while custody continues elsewhere.
Montgomery County Release Outcomes
The recorded exit type determines where to look next. Montgomery County Correctional Facility holds pretrial detainees, county-sentenced people, violators, weekend commitments, and people awaiting transfer. A court-authorized bond may send someone home under pretrial conditions. Completion of a county term can end jail confinement but leave probation in force. A PADOC, federal, ICE, or other-county pickup keeps the person in custody. Death and escape are custody changes, but neither should be called a legal release.
| Recorded outcome | What it means | Next source |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or court discharge | The pending-case jail hold may end after all other holds clear | UJS docket and MCCF discharge record |
| Time served or sentence completion | The named custodial term ends | MCCF record, docket, and supervision office if applicable |
| Parole | Conditional community release with supervision | County office or PADOC supervised-person search |
| Transfer | Custody continues with a receiving agency | Receiving jail, PADOC, BOP, or ICE |
| Furlough or work release | Authorized absence with return and program duties | MCCF program record |
Always use the exact label in the source record. A dismissal can explain why a court authorized release, but a separate case may still hold the person. Likewise, posting bail creates a possible release path. It does not establish the time someone passed through the facility door.
Montgomery County Discharge Fields
A focused Montgomery County release-record request should seek records sufficient to show the admission and exit. That phrasing lets the county produce a booking sheet, movement log, release paper, or scanned order when no single form contains every fact. Do not assert that each field must exist or be public. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, investigative, safety, and other protected material may be withheld or redacted.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Name and booking number | Links the custody event to the correct person and jail stay |
| Admission date and time | Starts the documented MCCF custody period |
| Discharge date and time | Shows when MCCF recorded the exit |
| Release or movement code | Distinguishes bond, time served, discharge, or transfer |
| Releasing authority | Identifies the court or agency behind the change |
| Receiving agency | Shows continued custody when a transfer is disclosable |
| Commitment and release papers | Supplies the orders tied to the recorded movement |
No verified public MCCF roster or release archive was found. There is therefore no supported online retention window to quote. Website visibility is distinct from the county's administrative record retention. Ask the open-records officer for the applicable schedule when that detail matters.
Request Montgomery County Release Records
Montgomery County directs general county requests through its JustFOIA portal or the statewide Right-to-Know form. A precise request asks for existing documents, not an explanation of why a judge or jail official acted. Give a full name, booking number or date of birth when lawfully known, and a narrow date range. Ask for electronic production and all reasonably separable portions if part of a record is withheld.
- Identify the MCCF stay with the strongest known identifiers.
- Request the booking sheet, admission/discharge log, movement record, release papers, recorded date and time, exit type, and receiving agency if applicable.
- Ask separately for the booking photograph if it is needed.
- Submit through JustFOIA, then save the request number and response date.
- If denied, follow the decision letter's appeal route and deadline.
The Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law generally calls for an initial agency response within five business days. A stated extension may apply for legal review, retrieval, staffing, or redaction. Montgomery County lists standard one-sided copies at 25 cents per page or side and certification at $1 per record. Electronic production usually avoids a duplication charge under the state fee schedule. Confirm the current fee before ordering a large file.

Montgomery County Record Access
Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, 65 P.S. ยงยง 67.101 and following, presumes agency records public unless an exemption, privilege, or other law controls. Criminal-investigation records receive special treatment. Ask for the operational booking and discharge documents apart from investigative files. CHRIA, found in 18 Pa.C.S. Chapter 91, separately governs criminal-history information and correction rights.
Montgomery County publishes expungement and limited-access packets under several Pennsylvania rules. Clean Slate may restrict access to qualifying records, but it does not justify a promise that every correctional record or prior publication disappears. If a record is wrong, CHRIA provides a correction process. An old copy found elsewhere should not override a current court access restriction.
Montgomery County Bail Release
The county's bail procedure creates a local timing distinction. The Clerk accepts bail on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. When a defendant is held at MCCF, cash bail may be posted at the facility after hours, on weekends, and on holidays. The payer must be at least 18 and present valid photo identification. Wire processing can take one or two business days, with more delay near closures.
Payment is not the same as physical discharge. MCCF must process the release, and another warrant, detainer, or case can keep the person in custody. The docket can establish that bail was set or posted. The discharge record is the better source for the recorded jail exit. For someone released on the pending matter, Montgomery County Pretrial Services may impose monitoring conditions that differ from probation or parole.
Note: An after-hours payment route can start release processing, but only the facility record confirms the resulting Montgomery County custody event.
Montgomery County Weekend Releases
MCCF provides one exact timing example for a weekend sentence. Admissions/Discharge starts the commitment clock when the person is processed. The county says a 48-hour commitment beginning at about 6 p.m. Friday ends at about 6 p.m. Sunday. Self-commitments report through the main entrance with two copies of their commitment papers. This rule is narrow. It is not a daily jail-release schedule and does not show who left custody.
The example is useful because it ties the short sentence to actual admission processing rather than a guessed midnight boundary. Other Montgomery County released inmates may wait on court papers, transportation, another hold, or internal discharge work. No official general release hour was verified. Do not extrapolate the weekend example to pretrial, county-sentenced, transfer, or state-prison cases.
Travel After Montgomery County Release
The current SEPTA Route 93 timetable names Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Eagleville as a stop. That gives families and released people a concrete transit source to check. The schedule does not say that the stop is the physical discharge door, that a ride is free, or that MCCF staff provide an escort. Confirm the current timetable and pickup point before relying on it.
No official family-pickup procedure, property-return rule, or release-door instruction was verified in the research. Call MCCF for current logistics. A person transferred to PADOC or another custodian will not use the community travel path at all. The recorded disposition should be confirmed before anyone plans a pickup.
Find Montgomery County Released Inmates
Start with the last custodian. A person believed to have left MCCF should be checked through the official facility contact, the court docket, PA SAVIN when registered, and a focused discharge-record request. A state-prison case belongs in PADOC systems. Federal and immigration cases require their own locators. This order avoids the most common error: treating a missing name on a current roster as proof of release.
- Match the person by full legal name and a strong identifier such as booking number, OTN, DOC number, or date of birth.
- Call MCCF at 610-635-7100 and ask whether the recorded event was discharge, transfer, or continued custody.
- Search the Pennsylvania UJS docket for bail, disposition, sentence, and filed orders.
- Check the PADOC inmate and supervised-person populations if state custody is possible.
- Review a PA SAVIN alert or search VINELink, then confirm the reported event with the custodian.
- Request the admission/discharge record for durable proof.
The Montgomery County 24-Hour Releases page explains the same-day fallback because no official county feed was verified. Similar names are common, so never report a release on name alone.
Montgomery County Release Dockets
The Pennsylvania UJS Portal can be searched by participant name and stronger case identifiers. Filter to Montgomery County and the correct court level. Dockets can show bail activity, disposition, a minimum and maximum sentence, case status, and filed orders. Read all linked cases before deciding what an order means. One case may authorize release while another supplies a hold.
For certified filed documents, use the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts. The Clerk is at the courthouse, second floor, 2 E. Airy Street in Norristown, and lists 610-278-3346 with weekday hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A court order gives legal context. It usually does not prove the exact time MCCF completed physical discharge.
The official UJS search screen shows the court route used to test a Montgomery County release event.
Use the docket result beside the jail movement record, not as a substitute for it.
PADOC Montgomery County Release Search
The PADOC Inmate/Parolee Locator separates two populations. The inmate side covers people currently under PADOC jurisdiction. The Department Supervised Individual side covers people currently under state supervision. Search by name or DOC identifier, then compare the DOC number, demographics, institution or district office, and the exact sentence or release labels.
| Search detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Name and DOC number | Reduces false matches |
| Population tab | Separates prison jurisdiction from community supervision |
| Institution or district office | Shows the current PADOC placement or supervising office |
| Release Date | On a supervised-person result, records the move to supervision |
| Minimum and maximum terms | Describe sentence limits, not a guaranteed release date |
The locator updates daily but is not a permanent archive of every person ever discharged. When state supervision ends, a no-result cannot prove that custody never occurred. Request the official state record at RA-centechrecords@pa.gov and use the court docket for older matters. PADOC also warns that county-inmate questions belong with the county jail.
The official PADOC locator displays the separate search routes used for Montgomery County state-prison releases.
Read a supervised result's Release Date as a recorded transition, not as final discharge from the sentence.
Montgomery County Release Supervision
Montgomery County Adult Probation and Parole handles local court supervision. State parole is decided by the Pennsylvania Parole Board and tracked through PADOC. Probation may begin without a jail stay, so it is not itself proof of release. A county docket establishes the local sentence. The PADOC supervised-person result may show a Release Date, county of residence, and district office for state parole.
Transition services also differ by custodian. SCI Phoenix has a Reentry Service Office for people within 18 months of a minimum or release date. The county Roadmap to Recovery describes case management inside MCCF, and Montgomery County lists a Reentry Initiative. These resources can aid planning, but participation does not fix or prove a release date. More routing detail appears on the Montgomery County Post-Release Supervision page.
Montgomery County Furlough Status
MCCF furlough rules show why physical absence cannot be equated with final release. The program requires time served in the program, good standing and a current account, approval, an approved destination and contact, a curfew, and timely return. Violations can affect furlough, program standing, or authorized good time in the setting described by county rules.
A person on furlough remains subject to custody and program duties. The correct record is the MCCF program or movement record, not a claim that the person was discharged. The same caution applies to work release, community work, and electronic or GPS transition arrangements at the Eagleville campus.
Montgomery County Release Alerts
PA SAVIN uses VINELink for participating county and state custody events. Users can search anonymously and register for phone, text, email, or app alerts. A phone registration uses a four-digit PIN. An alert proves that a participating source reported a custody change. It is not a certified discharge record, may age out, and does not rule out a transfer or another hold.
Federal cases require the BOP Inmate Locator. A result can show a release date and Released or Not in BOP Custody, but another agency may still hold or supervise the person. ICE's locator can include people released from ICE custody during the prior 60 days. No federal prison or ICE detention center was identified inside Montgomery County, yet either custodian can receive someone from local custody.
Montgomery County Record Limits
A missing court or jail result can reflect restricted access rather than a false search. Juvenile matters, sealed files, expunged records, limited-access cases, pending expungements, and records destroyed under a retention rule may not appear online. Montgomery County's Public Defender operates a virtual expungement clinic for current or former Public Defender clients on the relevant closed case. The listed sessions occur on the second and fourth Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m.
The Clerk separately publishes Rule 490, 790, and 791 packets and a fee schedule. Eligibility varies by the record and governing rule. An expungement or limited-access order should be read exactly. It does not support a broad promise that every independent correctional file or old news image must vanish.
Compare Montgomery County Release Sources
Each Montgomery County release system answers a narrower question. Combining them is stronger than forcing one portal to cover all custody types.
| Source | Best use | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| MCCF contact and records | County-jail admission, discharge, or transfer | No verified public online roster or release feed |
| UJS docket | Bail, court orders, disposition, and sentence | Does not establish physical door time |
| PADOC locator | Current state jurisdiction or supervision | Not a full historical archive after discharge |
| PA SAVIN | Reported custody changes and alerts | Not a certified record and may lag |
| BOP or ICE locator | Federal or immigration custody status | Does not rule out another custodian |
For a released person, favor the discharge record, supervised-person result, or court disposition that matches the custodian. For someone still held, use the current locator for that jail, prison, or federal agency. Always distinguish community release from transfer.
Montgomery County Release Facilities
Montgomery County Correctional Facility is the adult county jail and primary county discharge-record custodian. SCI Phoenix is a state prison inside the county, but its release trail belongs to PADOC. The Montgomery County Youth Center is a juvenile detention and shelter setting in which a judge controls secure-detention release and identity information is restricted.
- Montgomery County Correctional Facility: verify discharge or transfer through MCCF records and the docket.
- SCI Phoenix: use the PADOC locator and state records route.
- Montgomery County Youth Center: use authorized Juvenile Court and facility channels, never an adult name roster.
The courthouse Detention Center is transient court holding, not a separate sentenced institution or public release database. SCI Graterford closed in 2018 and should appear only in historical PADOC records.
